Stripe processing fee per transaction
A domestic card paid online costs 2.9% + $0.30. Stripe's pricing page says:
2.9% + 30¢ per successful transaction for domestic cards
A manually entered card adds 0.5%.
Stripe ACH fee
ACH Direct Debit costs 0.8% of the payment, capped at $5.00. Stripe's pricing page says:
0.8% ACH Direct Debit $5.00 cap
Stripe international card and currency fees
A card issued outside the US adds 1.5%. If the payment needs currency conversion, that adds 1%.
How much to charge
Choose "I want to receive X" in the calculator, enter the amount you want, and it finds the smallest charge that pays you at least that much, to the cent. For example, with a domestic card, charge $103.30 to receive $100.00: Stripe's fee is $3.30.
Stripe refund and dispute fees
Refunding a payment costs nothing extra, but Stripe keeps the fee from the original payment. Stripe says:
For all other payment methods, there are no fees for issuing refunds. The payment processing, Connect and currency conversion fees from the original transaction are not returned.
If a customer disputes a payment, Stripe charges $15.00. If you respond, it charges another $15.00, which you get back if you win. Stripe says:
Dispute countered fee $15.00 for each dispute you respond to manually. You get this fee back for won disputes. You don't get this fee back for lost disputes.
Payouts
Standard payouts are free. Instant Payouts cost 1.5% of the payout, with a minimum of $0.50. Stripe says: "1.5% of Instant Payouts volume Minimum fee of 50¢ (Pricing differs for Connect users)" Source
How we work this out
We use Stripe's standard pricing and round each fee to the nearest cent. Where Stripe leaves a question open, this is what we do:
- Domestic cards (online): Stripe does not say how it rounds; your fee may differ by 1 cent.
